LUCIAN IONESCU (Miercurea Ciuc, Romania)

Twenty years activity as geologist at GEOLEX limited company (www.geolex.nextra.ro) in Miercurea Ciuc (chief town of Harghita county, in the middle of Romania.

Made high detailed geological prospectings on 500 Km² (200 square miles) in the mountain region of Harghita, crowned in 1999 with a Ph.D, related on metamorphic rocks from Bilbor - Tulghes area (north of Harghita county). Leader of the Geological Prospecting Group from 1997, and chief geologist from 1999.

With two geologist workmates, in 2005, we founded an independent company, S.C. Geo-Line S.R.L. Miercurea Ciuc, having work activity water drillings, geotechnical, hidrogeologycal and geologycal studies and others (http://www.geo-line.home.ro)

GEOLOGICAL ACTIVITY

At GEOLEX Miercurea Ciuc (www.geolex.nextra.ro) I am involved in two activity types: office and field work.

OFFICE WORK

Office work consists in creating and maintaining a large variety of documentations and research papers related to geology, reports, studies, projects, research programs and many more. As a chief geologist, I coordinate and facilitate the activity of the geological division, a part of GEOLEX, the main operator in the geological research domain in the middle part of Romania.

FIELD WORK - GEOLOGICAL PROSPECTINGS

The field work covers a large range of activities. The most remarkable are the geological prospecting campaigns form 1986 to present. They have special pages on this site. The work methodology in the field is to cover all the valleys and ridges and and register the geological observations in the notebook, and collecting samples for analysis. The source of mineralized fragments are investigated with different diggings and drillings methods. At office we create a geological report that interprets and synthesizes all accumulated data. Between 1980-2000 period a geologist had a special trailer for accommodation, named "circus". The trailer had special electric and water equipments, also specific sleeping arrangements. After 2000, usually we rent rooms in the communities close to prospected area.

FIELD WORK - OTHER ACTIVITIES

Celelalte ieşiri pe teren au un caracter operativ şi vizează rezolvarea unor probleme curente, de natură geologică a societăţii: studiul şi hotărârea amplasamentelor lucrărilor de cercetare geologică (foraje, lucrări miniere), cartarea acestor lucrări în timpul execuţiei şi la terminare, adunarea de date geologice pentru diverse studii. În ultimii ani a intervenit o nouă specializare şi anume testarea hidrogeologică a forajelor pentru ape potabile şi minerale executate de S.C. Geolex S.A. Miercurea Ciuc. The others going out on the field had a operative character and vise (hint ?) the solution of some current geological problems: study and decision looking the emplacement of fieldwork (drills, mine works), the investigation of theses works in the execution time and at the end, also gathering de dates for different studies.
